Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the recovery time following a micro-needling session?
Post-micro-needling, expect your skin to appear pink, similar to sunburn, and to feel warm. The duration of redness varies depending on the treatment's depth – it may fade by the evening or last a few days to a week. Typically, skin feels dry for a few days after the treatment. In cases of acne scarring treatment, mild to moderate peeling may occur post-treatment.
  • Who should avoid Microneedling treatments?
Microneedling is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding individuals. It's also unsuitable for those on Accutane or blood-thinning medications. People with serious health or autoimmune conditions should avoid this treatment. Active infection or inflammation in the treatment area are also contraindications.
  • How frequently does DermaPen puncture the skin?
The Dermapen efficiently performs 1,300 micro punctures per second. This high rate of punctures effectively encourages the skin to produce collagen and elastin, essential for skin rejuvenation, while maintaining normal skin functions.
  • How does a Microneedling DermaPen work?
Dermapen (or DP4) uses fine needles to create tiny punctures on the skin's surface at the treatment area. These punctures are superficial and do not penetrate deeply. These micro-wounds activate the skin’s natural healing response, leading to the growth of new skin cells. The healing process releases growth factors, which stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin, essential for skin rejuvenation. This process replaces old skin cells with new ones, effectively dissolving damaged skin and revealing a revitalized appearance.
  • How many sessions are needed for DermaPen treatment?
Typically, one Dermapen session is sufficient for most patients to achieve their desired results. However, multiple sessions might be necessary depending on individual skin types and specific goals. We often advise undergoing four treatments, spaced one month or six weeks apart, for the best outcomes. A package of 4 treatments is available.
  • Is DermaPen Microneedling treatment painful?
To ensure a comfortable experience during Dermapen micro-needling, a topical anesthetic is applied about 30 minutes before the procedure, making the treatment very comfortable.
  • What is the cost of DP4 pen?
One session starts at $400. Packages are available. PRP can also be added for an additional cost.
  • When can I expect to see results?
Many patients typically observe a noticeable skin tone and texture enhancement following just one Microneedling session. The complete benefits of this rejuvenating treatment usually become evident within a few weeks of your treatment, and your skin's quality continues to improve over several months as new collagen develops following the session.
  • What is the average duration of Skinvive results?
The duration of Skinvive® results varies from person to person but generally lasts for several months. To extend the effects, you can schedule maintenance sessions, and regular touch-ups can assist in preserving your desired appearance. We typically recommend this treatment every 6 months.
  • What is the cost of SkinVive?
One syringe starts at $500 but packages are available.
  • Is there any downtime required after undergoing Skinvive® treatment?
Skinvive® injections offer the advantage of minimal downtime. You can resume your regular activities immediately after leaving our clinic. While some individuals may experience slight redness or mild bruising around the treated areas, these side effects usually diminish within 24-48 hours and should not hinder your daily routine.
  • What can I expect during my Skinvive® experience?
After your skin is cleansed, the injector will gently administer microdroplets of Skinvive® in an even, dotted pattern on your cheeks (and neck). While you may feel some minor and temporary discomfort during these sessions, the results will be well worth it and can last for several months. Within a few days, the microdroplets will blend seamlessly into your skin, and you will start to see the benefits of the integrated hyaluronic acid. Yet to achieve better results, it is advisable to avoid strenuous activities or exercise for the first 24 hours following the procedure.
  • What should I anticipate during a Skinvive® treatment session?
In a Skinvive® session, your healthcare provider will begin by cleansing the treatment area. If needed, topical numbing cream can be applied to reduce any potential discomfort before administering Skinvivev® through a series of injections. The entire procedure usually lasts approximately 15 minutes, and you can expect to see enhancements in your skin's appearance within the next few days to weeks.
  • What are the benefits of Skinvive® injection?
Natural Results: It excels in delivering subtle yet remarkable results that enhance your natural beauty without creating an overly "done" appearance. The procedure is known to add hydration to the skin. It is a "long lasting moisturizer" to improve skin quality, luminosity, and glow. Minimally Invasive: It is a non-surgical procedure that involves minimal downtime, permitting you to return to your regular activities promptly. Safe & Effective: It has received approval from health authorities, establishing it as a reliable option for individuals seeking a safe method to rejuvenate their skin.
  • Do the results remain consistent throughout the entire 6-month period, or do they diminish over time?
It has been observed under multiple clinical trials that the smoothness of cheek skin was consistently maintained for the entire 6-month duration. This may vary from patient to patient. They also expressed a high level of satisfaction with the continued glowing, hydrated, refreshed, and healthy appearance of their skin throughout this period.
  • What are the potential factors leading to the formation of skin tags?
The potential factors that lead to the formation of skin tags are unclear. However, friction resulting from skin rubbing against skin is believed to be a contributing factor. Additionally, individuals with certain health conditions such as diabetes, polycystic ovarian syndrome, human papillomavirus, or obesity are at a potent risk of developing skin tags. These skin tags are often formed in areas where skin friction occurs, like the armpits, around the anus, the groin, on the thighs, eyelids, and neck.
  • Is it safe for an individual to remove a skin tag using nail clippers?
Certain risks are associated with skin tag removal outside of a medical environment. It is advisable to only proceed with cutting off a skin tag at home after receiving clearance from a healthcare professional. Ensuring both the skin and the clippers are thoroughly cleaned beforehand is crucial to reduce the risk of infection.
  • What methods are available for the self-removal of skin tags at home?
Individuals may remove skin tags at home using commercially available removal creams or freezing kits. Nonetheless, undertaking this procedure at home carries certain risks. With the aim to ensure safety and minimize complications, it is recommended to have skin tags and age spots removed professionally in a medical setting by a healthcare provider.
  • What method can be used for the immediate removal of skin tags?
We customize the removal based on the size of the skin tag. If a skin tag is large, the removal technique employs a surgical blade that is used to remove the skin tag immediately after numbing is applied. Alternatively, for smaller skin tags, cryotherapy and cautery are other quick methods, although it takes time for the skin tag to fall off. A single session of cryotherapy or cautery is often adequate to remove skin tags successfully.

Phototherapy helps inflammatory skin conditions, like eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo, and itch, by exposing the skin to controlled amounts of narrow band ultraviolet B (UVB) light, which reduces inflammation and slows down the overproduction of skin cells. • What Happens After You Get Laser Hair Removal?
After a laser hair removal procedure, it's common to experience some (mild) redness and swelling in the treated area. These symptoms usually last just a few hours post-treatment. We discuss both Pre and Post-treatment care to achieve the best results for your skin. It's important to avoid exposure to sunlight and refrain from using tanning beds for six weeks or as directed by your laser specialist.. This helps prevent any complications or adverse reactions while your skin is sensitive to the treatment. Additionally, we advise you to protect your skin with a broad-spectrum SPF30 sunscreen daily, regardless of whether you plan to spend time outdoors. This not only helps in the healing process but also safeguards against future skin damage. We also do not recommend this treatment if you are on isotretinoin (e.g. Accutane).
  • What Should I Avoid After Laser Hair Removal?
For a minimum of three days following your treatment, avoiding any substances that may irritate your skin is crucial. This includes harsh soaps, medicated washes, facial or body scrubs, oils, retinol, scented lotions, and chemical peels. Additionally, refrain from taking hot baths or showers, and avoid swimming in any type of water, regardless of the temperature. These precautions are necessary to ensure optimal healing and to prevent any adverse reactions in the treated areas. You can also contact us for a free consultation to discuss.
  • What Will Happen If You Stop Laser Hair Removal Prematurely After Too Little Sessions?
If you discontinue laser hair removal treatments prematurely, you may find that the level of hair reduction remains approximately at the same level as it was at the time you stopped the treatments. It's important to understand that once a hair follicle has been effectively treated with laser and is rendered inactive, it will not produce new hair. However, this doesn't mean all hair growth potential is completely eliminated. If the treatment course is not completed, some hair follicles that were not active during earlier sessions may begin to produce hair as they enter their growth phase. Additionally, it's worth noting that new hair follicles can become active due to hormonal changes in the body. Factors such as pregnancy, menopause, or certain medical conditions can influence hormone levels and potentially activate new hair follicles that were not previously producing hair. Therefore, we suggest you complete the full series of laser hair removal sessions recommended by our team to achieve and maintain the best results.
  • Does Laser Remove 100% Hair?
The answer is no, and it does not guarantee complete hair removal. The principle behind laser hair removal is that it targets hair follicles with laser energy, heating them to a point where their ability to produce new hair is significantly reduced. This process puts the hair follicles into a dormant state for an extended period, which is substantially longer than the effects experienced by traditional methods like shaving or waxing.
  • How Painful Is Laser Hair Removal?
While some discomfort is associated with laser hair removal, it is often less intense than many people anticipate. The removal procedure involves targeting the hair follicles with a highly concentrated light energy. However, you won't experience this heat directly or feel any burning sensation. This brief, sharp feeling is generally manageable and varies depending on the treatment area and individual pain thresholds.
  • Can I Wax Between Laser Sessions?
This is a frequently asked question by many undergoing laser hair removal treatments. However, the answer is that you should refrain from waxing the treated area either after a session or before the next one. For these treatments to be effective, the hair needs to be in place, as it acts as a conduit that allows the laser energy to reach the follicles. Waxing removes your skin hair from the root, meaning no hair shaft is left to absorb the laser energy in subsequent treatments. This can decrease the effectiveness of the laser sessions and potentially require more sessions to achieve the desired results. Instead of waxing, we advise you to shave the area if necessary. Shaving merely cuts the hair above the skin level but leaves the follicle intact, making it possible for the laser to target the hair during your next session. Maintaining this protocol is crucial for achieving optimal results in your journey to permanent hair reduction.
